I love the reference to AT&T's 70 year monopoly of the phone company. Also, I did not realize that Verizon got their backbone provider network from MCI. I wasn't even aware they bought MCI.

I guess if any new service wants to compete, it'll have to pay some tolls.
Furthermore, if Netflix has to pay, will we all be paying?

I've been saying, that it's not Netflix, Comcast, or even other large ISPs that are going to be hurt from this deal. It's going to be the new startups and competitive services that are going to have to pay to play.
